    Eight new off shore wind farms came into operation in 2009

    In Europe, offshore wind farm increased by 54%

    According to the EWEA - 577 MW added off shore wind power capacity in 2009, which is 54% more than the 377MW added in 2008. This year a further 10 wind farms are due for completion adding an expected 1000 MW.

    GE to supply wind turbines for the 845MW Shepherds Flat project in Oregon.

    GE gets $1.4-B contract for largest US wind farm

    GE has received a $1.4 billion contract from independent power producer Caithness Energy. The Shepherds Flat project marks the US debut and largest single global order of GE’s 2.5xl wind turbines. In total 338 turbines will be installed in 2011 and 2012.
