WInd may not be so divine in Japan as growth slows down

Wind Power in Japan (From: REVE (Spain))

At the end of 2008, the total wind energy capacity in Japan was 1,880 MW (1,508 turbines) with 342 MW of annual net increase. The national target is to reach 3,000 MW by 2010. However, the increase in wind power capacity each year has turned from an exponential curve to a linear curve. Therefore, the attainability of the national target is still under question.

Looks like there's a world of robots expecting to get a new job in the wind industry!

Remote Controlled Robots Can Inspect, Clean, and Maintain Wind Turbines (From: Green Living Ideas)

With the increased installation of wind turbines, we’re getting more clean energy, but one thing that isn’t so easy to do is inspect the blades, towers, and turbines. Usually this involves sending people up the towers to rappel down the blades or towers to inspect and clean the machines and towers. Using a remote control robot to do this job could take much of the risk out the inspection and maintenance procedure.
